It's very rare for me to get very invested in new anime - I have this terrible affliction called "laziness" that usually keeps me from staying current with things as their airing. But Higashi no Eden was different - and even I'm surprised by how incredibly hard I fell for this show. Initially drawn to the beautiful character designs by Umino Chika, this show was an amazing experience for me and one that held me quite captive. I was exceedingly impressed with every aspect of the show and Higashi no Eden not only introduced me to one of my favorite characters, Akira, but also showed me that a well-rounded team is capable of perfecting and executing a fantastic idea. The intrigue, mystery, connections and hilarity are only part of what make this such an enjoyable experience and despite the mixed feelings it drew (even I can't deny episode seven was wtf), this, to me, was the best series I've seen in several years.
